You’ve GOT to watch this…

Hey y’all!  If you haven’t already seen this, get on iPlayer NOW!

Last night’s Top Gear featured a fantastic article filmed in Belfast (with lots of footage around East Belfast and the Titanic Quarter) that was worth every penny of license fee you’ve paid this year  At long last, something filmed in Belfast in blazing sunshine rather than dreary grey drizzle, with no background shots of murals or peace walls, not one mention of the troubles…

…just some beautiful, achingly well-shot footage that made me a bit throat-lumpingly proud to be born here.  Also it was a brilliant article, as Jeremy Clarkson, doped-up on Night Nurse, “tested” a Renault Twingo in increasingly surreal and twisted ways.

You can find the episode on iPlayer at this link:

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00p8jnc/Top_Gear_Series_14_Episode_4/

and if you only want to see the Belfast-based bit, the article starts at about 44:40 with Richard Hammond reading out a letter from the famous Mr Needham of Belfast, and continues until the end of the programme.

Let me know what you think!

UPDATE JANUARY 2010…  the link above now leads you to just a small clip from the show – the final race to the boat through Belfast Docks.  If you didn’t get to see the whole show while it was still on iPlayer, you’re TOO LATE!  Of course you could try looking on Youtube to see if someone has illegally uploaded it, but I could never suggest or sanction such a course of action…
