What’s this? A mid-week Dock Walk?<\/p>\n

Every year on St Patrick’s Day there is a pilgrimage from Saul church near Downpatrick (the site of the first Christian settlement in Ireland) to a festival service in Downpatrick cathedral (followed by Irish stew for lunch – just in case you needed an extra incentive). \u00a0This year it’s of special Dock-relevance for two reasons: \u00a01) The theme is ‘Shared Past, Shared Future’ (which could almost be the Dock motto…), and 2) the pilgrimage part – the walk between Saul and Downpatrick – will be led by yours truly, as a sort of extended special Dock Walk.<\/p>\n

So it would be fab to see any Dock-ers there on St Patrick’s Day. \u00a0You can park in Downpatrick and take a shuttle bus out to Saul (click the pic below – or the link here<\/a> – for details), Dock Walk back in to town, enjoy the service (with guest speaker Dr Norman Hamilton), scoff some Irish stew, and be back home in time for afternoon tea. \u00a0What a great way to spend St Patrick’s Day – and what a great way to remember the figure at the root of all our faith traditions in this country.<\/p>\n
