I just can’t rave enough about The Shaping Of Things To Come, the book we’re reading for the next Dock Book Group. Cosy by the fire, chilled-out movie soundtracks on the stereo, an occasional cat on my knee, I’ve been spending the last few nights devouring every line of this fantastic book.
I’ve had a pen in my hand, ready to underline the occasional line or key point; the problem is that in some chapters, every line is so good that each page takes about 20 minutes to read and is almost submerged in a sea of green ink as the vast majority of it gets underlined, asterisked and highlighted. So much of it speaks profoundly to feelings, frustrations and half-formed thoughts that have arisen during this past year that the book could actually be called The Shaping Of Things To Come In The Dock And The Titanic Quarter, Chris!
I’m really looking forward to unpacking it all at the Book Group on Saturday, and I have a feeling that it’ll keep resurfacing in blogs and Dock videos for a while to come. It’s stuff that gives me great hope and boundless excitement at the possibilities for ministry and the work of God in the Titanic Quarter; the blank page, sometimes intimidatingly empty at the start, is starting to look like the most incredible gift!
