Time to get stuck in to the next book for Dock Book Group!
– or, as we should maybe re-name it, the Michael Frost/Alan Hirsch Appreciation Society…. Yep, we found Exiles and The Shaping Of Things To Come to be so powerful, challenging and thought-provoking that we’re staying with the same authors and looking at their most recent book for our next gathering.
(In fact some of the challenges from The Shaping Of Things To Come are still rattling around in my head on a daily basis – one of those books that genuinely does change your life (at the risk of sounding like Oprah). It’ll hopefully appear in some form in a blog or Dock Video near you soon…)
So, the next book! It’s called Re-Jesus – A Wild Messiah for a Missional Church. The back cover (yep, that’s how far I’ve got so far…) sounds pretty exciting:
The Jesus that Frost and Hirsch present is not the domesticated Jesus that we learned about in Sunday School, but the “loving, wildly passionate, dangerous, radically merciful, and always surprising” Jesus portrayed in the Gospels.”
Can’t wait to get started – and to chat about it over a coffee at the next Book Group on 20th November at 12 noon. Stick it in the diary now – and if you like the sound of the book, click here. Happy reading!
