My journey into Dock World

My Dock journey began with a surprise email in March 2010 inviting me to a presentation at the Pump House in TQ.At that time I was preparing to move from the church where I was serving to one a little closer to TQ! Coincidence or God-incident? I had nothing to lose, so I accepted the invite and went along, free coffee clinching the deal! What was this Dock thing all about? Well, it was music to my ears, I was hooked! I had been working on an MA in mission focusing on the Emerging Church ….. hmmm coincidence or God-incident? ThatĀ  all took placeĀ  in March 2010. Fast forward to December 2010. During that period I had kept in touch with Chris but hadn’t got involved. Then I received another email announcing that I was now the ‘Methodist woman in the Dock’ (thank you Rev Des Bain, Home mission secretary MCI) Further conversations took place; the Church Council in Sydenham Methodist graciously agreed to my very part time role as a Chaplain to TQ.

Fast Forward to April 2011, if you have followed Chris’ blog then you will know a commissioning service was held on 17th April, and we both look forward to the day when other Chaplains come on board! So far this has been a journey of lots of God incidents and I am so excited about what God has already done, is doing and will continue to do on this journey!

With a little help from my friends….

So at last I’ve got round to posting on the blog! ‘With a little help from my friends’ were words sung at the commissioning service a few weeks ago. Chris is no longer ‘all by himself’. So I’m hoping to get a little help from my friends on Friday morning to deliver some leaflets to the apartments announcing the next, even better Meet the Neighbours event happening on Saturday 11 – 1. If you’re free on Friday I’ll be glad to see you at ‘Kit’ at 9.30am. If you have no idea where or what Kit is….. it is the Airfix type model of the Titanic at the base of the apartments! So come along on Friday morning …..
