And also introducing…

Dock-world has some international visitors this week: Alex and Sally Smeed are visiting the TQ from Glasgow Harbour, as a sort of ‘Fresh Expression of Church in an Emerging Trendy Dockland Area Exchange Scheme’ type of thing.  I first met Alex back in the very early days of The Dock, and it’s been really fantastic to connect again.  Here’s Sally to make the introductions:

Hi there.  We are team leaders for a project in Glasgow called authentic(?).  We are exploring what a contextual expression of faith might look like in Glasgow Harbour, a riverside redevelopment which shares several similarities with Titanic Quarter.  We are over in Belfast with our team members, Debbie and Paul, to spend some time meeting and sharing with Chris and the Titanic team to learn, share, dream and encourage each other.  We’re already really enjoying seeing how others are dreaming with God in this developing area.  We’re looking forward to meeting some more of you over the weekend.

So, now to the invitation!  Alex and Sally have been given the tour of the TQ today and have been talked at (exhaustively, ad infinitum) by me.  They would love to meet some more of the team and share stories about the similarities, differences, challenges and opportunities of both the Titanic Quarter and Glasgow Harbour.  So we’ve booked a big table at La Tasca in the Odyssey at 7:30pm on Saturday evening (because, y’know, when Belfast and Glasgow people get together, it’s important that the food is Spanish).

There’s still room for a few extra around the table – so if you fancy some good tapas and great chat, just drop me an email (chris@the-dock.org) or reply to this blog, and we’ll make sure there’s a seat at the table for you.

And in the meantime, if you’d like to see what’s going on across the pond, you can find out more about Alex and Sally’s pop-up curryhouse, authentic(?), by clicking here.
