A Grand Day Out

2015-09-05 11.15.16Apologies to everyone who turned up at the closed doors of Dock Cafe today (especially heartbreaking to see the dismayed faces of a Saturday morning cycling club who had obviously been pedalling in the belief that a Dock coffee awaited as their reward…) – but the Dock Volunteers had the BEST DAY!

2015-09-05 11.59.19

Thanks to Stephen for organising our Volunteers Day of treats and fun… thanks to the wonderful Noel at the Tudor cinema in Comber (especially for the choc ices)… thanks to Peter Weir for making The Truman Show, our selected movie choice (top film!)… thanks to the Amazing Angie in the Green Deli for providing a feast fit for a king… and thanks, most of all to the Dock volunteers, whose unswerving, life-changing, self-sacrificing, hope-affirming shifts behind the counter of Dock Cafe provided the reason for this very small day of saying Thank-You.

SN-a1And on the theme of saying Thanks… tomorrow night (Sunday 6th) is our monthly Sunday Night At The Dock – our regular chance to say thanks, share tales, sip teas and sit together…  This week we’ll be hearing from Joachim about the story of Dock Market, and Clemence and Stephen about their summer of being Dock interns.  6pm at Dock Cafe – Don’t miss it!
